Detectives Sara Lansing and Ryker Harris investigate the murder of a naked, frozen body found in a meat locker. They are a razor-sharp duo forced to confront how far they’ll go for justice, each other, and survival.
What began as a murder mystery explodes into an action-packed, adventure thriller where they must survive the most dangerous pursuit of their lives in a race against time.
As they uncover a long trail of revenge, every clue leads deeper into a web of lies tied to a tragic Everest expedition led by the victim. The scrutiny of team members leads to multiple twists and turns. Each one carries a secret and has a motive for murder: a beguiling woman with a jealous husband, a violin maker who lost three fingers, an eccentric sculptor with a temper, a man who fled within hours of the crime, a rival climber who benefits from the victim’s death.
Every discovery exacts an emotional and physical price. As the countdown tightens, so does the line between hunter and hunted
Reviews of Revenge on Ice
Bad blood thrives on the mountaintops in Revenge on Ice by Linda LeBlanc, a vividly crafted second installment of the Sara/Ryker Mysteries. The odd-couple protagonists are again supported by a colorful and eccentric cast of secondary characters and suspects.
LeBlanc brings her personal experience to the niche subject matter of the murder, in this case elite mountaineering, which makes the story immersive and effortlessly authentic. The pitch-perfect reflection of extreme athlete egos makes the novel feel like getting a sneak peak on a rarified world.
Clever and engrossing from the discovery of the body to the big reveal, this is a strong sophomore installment of an original mystery series, which is uniquely enhanced by real-world detail.
Our verdict. Get it A sharp main character gives this conventional mystery a hearty boost.
As Sara and Ryker inch closer to a solution, the vengeful killer will do whatever it takes to stay out of prison. The narrative engagingly ramps up in the latter half. The detectives’ hunt for the culprit makes for a riveting final act.
Adventure + Intrigue= A great read
LeBlanc layers in a cast of interesting; well-rounded characters and chase scenes that made it hard to put the book down. Whether it’s medical, police or even pickleball terminology, LeBlanc is meticulous in her research. She shares her familiarity with Mount Everest in such vivid descriptions that I could actually feel the intense cold, the red flag of lightheadedness, and the danger in every step.
