No Summit Out of Sight: Youngest Person to Climb the Seven Summits

An American/Sherpa love story and climbing Mount Everest.

A mural of the highest mountain on each continent kindled American teenager Jordan Romero’s desire to climb the seven summits. In a memoir inspiring young adults to never give up, he shares his frustration, exhaustion, and homesickness. When he fell face down in moments of despair and felt he couldn’t go on, Jordan always found the courage to pull himself together and take that next step up a mountain. On May 22, 2010, at the age of thirteen, he became the youngest person to reach the Everest Summit. At age fifteen, he set a world record as the youngest to climb the Seven Summits. As of June 2024, he still holds both records.

From Jordan's mural inspiration to his last summit

Reviews for No Summit Out of Sight

  • “The emotional pitch of the story remains high as Romero contends with extreme weather, frustration, exhaustion, and homesickness to reach, with almost palpable exhilaration, each peak”

  • "Romero's incredible, inspiring story may not inspire all readers to become record-setting mountaineers, but it will motivate them to set sights on goals of their own to achieve."

  • continually reflects on the dangers and emphasizes the extensive preparation involved, and his excitement over each new mountain adventure is contagious.

  • Jordan has a very engaging style, and the book was balanced really nicely between descriptions of the climbs and of the cultures of the areas he went to. Really inspiring - great job!

  • Great book that shares the details of the cultures in each continent. I think it's great to read the perspective of a child.

  • This book was written from the heart of a fifteen year old boy and I could relate to everything he was saying. Finally, A book I can recommend.

  • From the first page, I was captivated by young Jordan Romero's adventures as he reached the tallest places on earth. Gripping, often funny details of a family's treks around the world.
